Project Overview
The Oklahoma Museums Association (OMA) supports and promotes museums across Oklahoma as key educational and cultural institutions. While their website had served them since 2013, it required a modernized design and improved usability, particularly on the homepage and museum directory, to better support OMA’s mission and its members.
Challenge
With over 500 museums statewide and 150+ member museums, the existing website had become overloaded with information, making navigation cumbersome and unintuitive. The primary challenge was to streamline content, establish a clear hierarchy, and simplify navigation to better align with OMA’s current and future needs.
User Experience & Research
To address these challenges, I conducted stakeholder interviews to identify key user needs and the most critical calls to action. Through this research, I collaborated with OMA to:
- Prioritize and categorize content for improved accessibility.
- Reduce information overload by refining the site’s hierarchy.
- Enhance navigation to create a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.
- Reduce information overload by refining the site’s hierarchy.
- Enhance navigation to create a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.
Using these insights, I developed a site map and multiple user flows, which were internally tested to ensure clarity and effectiveness. The final UX strategy provided a structured, scalable approach that simplifies content discovery and improves engagement for both museum professionals and the public.
